ISAIAH, CHAPTER 2, VS 1-9

ISAIAH CHAPTER 2

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 2, VS 1-4

1. The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 2, VS 1-4

While, in one application, this is clearly speaking of the end times when Jesus will come back and rule the earth, it also has an internal application for each of us who has accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.. We need, in these times, more than ever, to put Our Lord in His proper place in our lives. He MUST be exalted, above everything and everyone in our lives. We must sit at His feet in our hearts and spirits, and learn His ways, guide us, chastise us, comfort us and love us. We must obey every command He whispers in His still Small Voice to our hearts, for this is our law. He has written His law in our hearts in these latter days. We must live peacefully with all men, as is in our power, but be strong in standing for the Lord in times of persecution.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 2, VS 5-8

5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.

6 Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:

8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 2, VS 5-8

But some don’t put the Lord first. Some who call themselves Christian, are living like the world…enjoying the things of this world, as idols before the Lord. Our time can be an idol. What do we do with it? These times afford us idle time, and pleasures never dreamed of years ago, which we sometimes “worship” .

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 2, VS 9
9 And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 2, VS 9
Many “Christians” today bow to the whims and sins of the world. They accept the sinful lifestyles of others as normal, and bow down to them in tolerance, which is disgusting in the eyes of Our Lord. This is the mean man—-the average man who calls on the Name of the Lord. The “great man”—the leaders of our nations, even some of them who call themselves Christian, seem fearful of the sinful lifestyles, and make laws to put them on a higher level than the Lord Himself in their lives and their nations.

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 1, VS 21-31

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1, VS 21-23

21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 1, VS 21-23

v. 21-22– The Christian Church began as a small band of true believers who were totally devoted to Christ and totally led by the Holy Spirit, but they got off the track by adding rituals, beliefs and traditions which were not guided by the Spirit–differences developed and hard feelings grew. The fifth commandment considers a murderer anyone who speaks angrily to another, so many of God’s people are murderers. The true wine of Jesus is mixed with the water of division of the Body of Christ due to doctrinal differences. All this was planted by Satan to divide the church and weaken it against him.

v. 23– The church started becoming rich, political, and the hierarchy was becoming powerful and greedy and forgetting the simple faith in Christ and the love of neighbor.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1, VS 24-31

24 Therefore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.

29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

30 For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 1, VS 24-31

v. 24-27– But now the Spirit of God is turning that around. He will “restore the judges as at the first”. His Spirit is moving among the “little people” the common man, not the leaders of the churches. He is revealing Himself to the common people and we will be the True Body of Christ, and His chosen people will be redeemed. Only the True Body will recognize Him at His Second Coming, and will not be deceived by the Anti Christ Beast of the Great Tribulation.

v. 28– And the people who take pride and comfort in the things of this world lose the glory, joy and strength of the Lord and are vulnerable to the attacks of Satan.

V. 29– And they will see their emptiness in their hearts.

v. 30– For the things of this world are temporary and fade away,

and so will their happiness in them.

v. 31– It doesn’t matter to God how strong or powerful a person is in this

world. He’s no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). Whoever doesn’t put Him first will lose.

END OF CHAPTER 1

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 1, VS 15-20

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1, VS 15-17

15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 1, VS 15-17

He’s saying, that in the state of the Church, in compromise and blindness to the sin around it, He cannot answer prayer. He hides His eyes, and proclaims judgment on the nations because His Church is not standing for His Word and righteousness!

People obey church holidays, go on certain days, do certain things, are bound by certain denominational doctrines, and do these things, not by the Spirit of God, but by their leaders orders. The Lord doesn’t consider these things wrong, but if they are not done through the Spirit, they are done in vain, for God must be worshiped in Spirit and in Truth, and when our faith is shallow, and in the carnal realm, we are vulnerable to the secular leaders and the intimidation, not having the courage, faith, and wisdom that comes from our spirits being connected to the Holy Spirit. He wants us to be led by Him and Him alone!! (See Jeremiah 4:4). In John 4:23 and 24, Our Lord said: “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.”

We must live with Him seven days a week, twenty four hours a day. We must love others and let Him live our lives for us. Only He can put the love in our hearts that we need to do His work.

We have made an exchange with Him–our lives for His. He wants us to truly give our lives to Him to Live in us and for us, and when we do that, we find it easier to live our lives as He would live them, and we will find a new courage to stand for Him, and “work out our salvation” (Philippians 2:12) in the world.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1, VS 18-20

18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 1, VS 18-20

These are some of the most beautiful, yet most powerful words of the Bible, and they are directed to the Church of today as much as to the chosen People in those days. God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

— This well-known verse tells of His beautiful forgiveness of our sins, both individually and as the corporate Body of Christ, the Church, but He wants our total honesty with Him. In the Bible, the most serious sins were forgiven when repented of, but dishonesty to the Spirit of God, and covering up of our sins was taken very seriously by Him. The early Jews thought He wasn’t looking when they worshiped idols–the Pharisees were planning in private against Him–Annanias and Sapphira lied to Him, and all came to greater punishment than the biggest sinners.

— When we come to Christ totally and give Him every part of our lives, He will take care of every detail of our lives, but

whatever we try to do of ourselves, we leave an unprotected area for Satan to slip in through a hole in our armor of Christ with his sword. (See Jeremiah 1:16)

In Our nation and world, He promises to heal our land IF we all repent and turn totally to Him, stand for Him, and, if necessary, die for Him. BUT, if not, our land will be devoured, and we will be left desolate—–even of knowing His Voice anymore!!!! THAT is a VERY terrible state to be in!!!!

2 Chronicles 7:14

King James Version (KJV)

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 1, VS 8-14

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1, VS 8-9

And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 1, VS 8-9

v. 8– Satan’s influence will grow up until it overcomes us, as a

once neat cottage, if left unprotected and uncared for, will be

overgrown by vines and brush.

v. 9—The Church should be the remnant in the Sodom and Gomorrah of this world. There is no question that our nation, and most nations of the world, are being taken over by the demonic sin of sodomy, which carries all other lies with it. It goes so much deeper than the physical choices being made, it is a rebellion against the very plan of God….the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which is what God’s plan of Sex represents. Instead of being the Remnant standing for God’s righteousness, much of the church has become a silent slave to demonic forces that are ruling our governments.

*************************************************************

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1, VS 10-14

10 the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 1, VS 10-14

— He is speaking to the people of today (Christians included)who think more of the pleasure of this world than of Him.

— He doesn’t want us to go to church to simply obey the laws of the church–whatever the denomination. He wants us to come to Him first, to listen first to Him, then to other people, and not put church laws and church leaders’ opinions before His inner voice in each of us, to study the Word for ourselves. We are to make our lives a sacrifice to Him, instead of our sacrifices being denominationally-oriented and becoming in that way of a shallow nature. He hates rituals that have not the Spirit in them. He abhors cowardly people who will not stand for Him.

— Some Christians are still so bound by their church that they go simply because their leaders say so, the church rules say so, or their neighbors will wonder why they weren’t there. He’s asking, “who told you to come –Me, or someone else?”

I find it shocking and sad that in verse 10, He speaks of the “rulers of Sodom” and “People of Gomorrah”…as giving sacrifices to Him. Obviously, He is not speaking of the sodomites, the unbelievers and homosexuals, He is speaking to His church, but calling them citizens of the sinful cities! Lot chose to live among these sinners, as the only family worshiping the God of Abraham, and he nearly was annihilated with them. This is the situation in which God sees His church!!!! Living in the spiritual squalor of sinful Sodom and Gomorrah and doing NOTHING about it!!!! As time goes on, it is inevitable that the poison and filth oozes into the church rituals, words, and “sacrifices” and makes them filthy in God’s eyes and ears. They sicken Him because He knows of the compromise and complacency that are mixed in!!!!

Notice that there weren’t even 10 righteous, so, apparently, He doesn’t consider merely going to church, while compromising by closing one’s eyes to sin, righteousness.

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 1, VS 7

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1, VS 7

v.7– Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 1, VS 7

v. 7– Without Christ in our lives we are desolate–empty within

ourselves, and Satan can come and devour the good in us and take

over as much as we let him.

Collectively, when we have people like this making up the Church, we have a people who Should have the power of God in them, but don’t, because they have abandoned the deep relationship with Him that is necessary. This is why our cities are physically being burned with fire, and our land is being taken over and overthrown by strangers, as the Church stands by, silently, and watches the enemies of God being welcomed into this Great Christian Nation, and others throughout the world, and we are commanded to give up our public displays of worship so as not to “offend” them. This is blasphemy on the part of the Church to be silent when these things happen! God will judge the Church first, and will not defend us without our heartfelt repentance.

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 1, VS 1-4

ISAIAH CHAPTER 1

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1 vs. 1-4

1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the Lord hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel (read: the Christian church today) doth not know, my people doth not consider.

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 1, vs 1-4

v. 1-4– There are so many people now, also, whom the Lord is calling, and they will not listen, so they don’t know Him. Many of these call themselves Christians, but they are content with their Salvation, and slip back into this world while waiting for eternity. They are not living in the loving personal relationship that the Lord desires for His People. The world is falling into the abyss of hell. Governments are outlawing acknowledgement of Our Lord, and many so called Christians are sitting back in silence, believing the lies put forth by deceived church leaders….like the soon coming of Christ…to wisk us all away without being persecuted….or, the lie that is told that Christ told us not to make our voices heard in our governments.

Others are not saved at all, and haven’t listened to His call of Salvation.

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 1, VS. 5&6

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 1, VS 5&6

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

Application: CHAPTER 1, VS 5&6

v. 5-6– These people’s souls (minds and emotions) are sick. They

are rotting with the thoughts Satan puts there, thoughts of

depression, pride, envy, loneliness, confusion, etc., and they don’t come to Christ to be bound up in His Love, and have His ointment of Joy, Peace, Love, Patience, Faith, etc., put on. The Church as a whole has turned its back on the Lord and are letting the people and the church as a whole, be bruised, and cut up by the existing secular governments, and are bowed down and obeying them, and so, denying the Power and Love of Our Lord. The sickness in the Church will go on, until its leaders and its people fully repent of the false doctrines that have been growing through the recent years!!! He says, “there is no soundness in it”….no soundness of doctrine….no standing on the Rock, which is Christ alone….all mushy, man-made doctrines that make people feel good.
