ISAIAH, CHAPTER 28, VERSES 1-6

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 28, VERSES 1-6

Scripture, chapter 28, vs 1

Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

Application: chapter 28, vs 1

Satan fell because of his pride. He became “drunk” on hisown handsomeness and intelligence given him by God, but for which he took credit himself. This verse refers to the crown of our lives –who is sitting on the throne of our hearts?–is it satan and his lies that we can do alright without God, that we are what we are because of ourselves–that the things of this world are forever and important, and he would have us become part of the “fat valley” and make us drunk with our own pride

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 28, VS 2-3

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 28, VS 2-3

2-3– But we have Jesus Christ–the “mighty and Strong One”–who, through the Holy Spirit, “a flood of mighty waters overflowing” will give us the strength to overcome the crown of pride which Satan would have on our throne, and replace it. (See Jeremiah 23:19 & 20 where the Spirit is also described as the storm or wind)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 28, VS 4-5

And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looks upon it sees, while it is yet in his hand he eats it up.

5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 28, VS 4-5
v. 4-5– “The Crown of Glory”! Jesus replaces satan on the throne and sits on the throne of our hearts with His Wondrous love and forgiveness and peace! (v. 4) The pleasures and beauties of the other way are very temporary, they are short-term happiness compared to the real, the everlasting Joy of Jesus. Note in vs. 5 that it is only to a residue of His people…those who take the “strait and narrow road” (Mt. 7:14)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 28, VS 6

6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sits in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 28, VS 6

Not only does He give us these beautiful things, but also the power through Jesus to stand up to satan’s temptations and schemes to get himself back on the throne, as we “turn the battle to the gate”–or turn it right around in his face, and run him back to his own back door where he belongs!!!

ISAIAH CHAPTER 27, VERSES 6-13

ISAIAH CHAPTER 27, VERSES 6-13

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 27, VS 6-9

“He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and but, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

7 Hath he smitten him, as he smote those that smote him? or is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?

8 In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou wilt debate with it: he stayeth his rough wind in the day of the east wind.

9 By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 27, VS 6-9

. 6– We have come of Jacob. We are the descendents of Abraham, because of the grafting in spoken of in Romans chapter 11 and blood brothers of Jesus! We will “blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit”–the Fruit of the Holy Spirit!

v. 7– Jesus smote satan at Calvary, but not those that satan smote. God isn’t taking His revenge on people who were lied to by satan, but it is Satan himself who is slain.

v. 8– But some will “debate with it”. They speak of God’s wrath upon His people. God’s love never fails. His wrath is upon satan and His voluntary followers who deceive the people. “He stayeth His rough wind in the day of the east wind.” (See 32:2) God stayed the punishment on the people and let Jesus take it instead. This is the meaning of His Grace. Now the focus is on satan where it belongs, and his trickery blew up in his face at Calvary, because his idea was to force God to punish His people because we have sinned. However, we still need to repent before our Lord and keep our relationship to Him pure, and reliant upon Him. Those who do not accept the Lordship of Jesus will not be able to take part in the Grace and forgiveness bestowed because of Jesus’ sacrifice.

v. 9– By this God’s people’s sins are forgiven, “and this is all the fruit to take away his sin”. This is all we need to have our sins forgiven. The churches have gone so much away from this, and changed their focus on other things. There is nothing else! We have for so many centuries diluted this, and gone to trying to impress God with our goodness. We can never do this, and the churches must now concentrate on breaking down the “stones of the alter .••” that have kept the people from truly realizing the fact spoken in this verse. We are incapable of impressing God, for any goodness in us must come by His Grace.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 27, VS 10-13

“Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.

11 When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour.

12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.

13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 27, VS 10-13

Those who don’t believe in Jesus’ victory, and are keeping their defenses up and not repenting, will be desolate. They will not have Jesus in them and will be forsaken. Their souls will grow up in weeds, as an empty city does. The weeds are the devices of satan to disallusion us and weaken our faith, causing us to miss out on knowing Jesus fully as He so much desires of us.

v. 11– As the people reject God more and more, satan gets more and more of a chance to plant his seeds of iniquity. God will give them every chance to see His Mercy, but in the end, He must respect the free choice He dared to give His people, and the person must, by His own choice, be purged of the evil in him. (Romans chapter 1)cave--iceland

v. 12-13– As He speaks of beating off the stream into the river, He refers to opening the doors of Salvation to all people from the river of His people, Israel. It is like grafting in the olive branches that Paul talks about. All people from the world over can be His people. But at the end

of Days, at His Return, when He is on the “Holy Mount at Jerusalem”, the Chosen people will see Him for whom He is—-their long-awaited and well beloved Messiah!!!!! (See Romans 11:17)

END OF CHAPTER 27

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 27, VERSES 1-5

ISAIAH CHAPTER 27, VERSES 1-5

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 27, VS 1

In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 27, VS 1

This describes the Great and Total punishment of satan at the end. In that Great Day of the Lord, he will be put in chains for a thousand years, released for a short time, then locked up forever, and we will be with the Lord forever as He reigns on the New Earth. (Rev. 21:1-7)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 27, VS 2-3

In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine.

3 I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.  In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 27, VS 2-3

v. 2– (See Chapter 5 of Isaiah) This is again reference to His Vineyard, His Church.  v. 3– A beautiful promise from our God to water us with Living water and care for us. We are now His vineyard, His garden–(See Ps. 92:12 & 13)–As once we were ugly weeds, growing where we wished, and withering, now we are roses–growing in the Lord’s fertile soil of Salvation, fertilized with His Grace, watered with Living Water, pruned with His Love, and bending with the Wind of the Holy Spirit. Our blossoms show the beauty of His Glory and Love to the World. Some people are used greatly by the Lord for His work, but He loves all of us the same. Those of us who are in the center of the garden, not used as greatly, are still loved just as greatly by Him. When God tends His garden, He doesn’t walk along the edge, where others walk, but He goes through the center, walking by each and every plant, to give it the individual tender loving care each of us needs, no matter where we are in the garden; and each of us contributes equally to the Power of His Body for the fulfillment of His plan!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 27, VS 4-5

4 Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.

5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 27, VS 4-5

v. 4– He is speaking of that eternal patience He has with us. Fury is not in Him. He is hurt by our disobedience, but His love never waivers. Briars and thorns are those parts of us that are of us, or of Satan’s influence, but not of Him. He will burn those things,-purge them from us, as we give them to Him. Thus we become more and more like Him as He molds us. The Psalms take on a more loving meaning when we think of “the enemy” in the verses as our former selves, being crucified with Christ, and our new selves being resurrected with Him; or consider the enemy Satan.

  1. 5– He shows us here His desire not to reject anyone who comes to Him. Whatsoever we ask of Him, He will give us when our hearts are clinging to Him and His will

for us. Then, our prayers are not selfish desires, but prophesies that He gives us, as His desires become our desires.

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 26, VERSES 19-21

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 26, VERSES 19-21

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 19

19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 19

The first word for dead means those spirits in Hades who will arise for their judgment, together with “my dead body” which is Christ’s people who have died. This word for dead means the body. He is speaking of the time after the tribulation, when He will, in the blink of an eye, gather His People to Him, both living and dead, and also punish the evil ones, destroying the earth as we know it. We will meet Him in the air and ‘forever be with the Lord”.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 20-21

20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

21 For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 20-21

mystic view--iceland

v. 20—21—He, again, is speaking of His judgment at the end of time. The bodies of believers will rise unto eternal life, and the earth shall no more cover them, and the evil ones will be judged to punishment forever.

END OF CHAPTER 26

ISAIAH CHAPTER 26, VS 12-18

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 26, VERSES 12-18

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 12

12 Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 12

  1. 12– But the people of God have His peace, for our works are from Him, and are not our own. We are, at best, “unprofitable servants” Luke 17:10 says, “So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. “ Everything goes back to, and comes from, Our Lord. Our very breath comes from Him, and everything else. He is all-Wise, and knows what is best for us, therefore we can be in perfect peace no matter what happens.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 13-14

13 O Lord our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.

14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 13-14

  1. 13-14– The things, and people of this world can be our gods. We must come to Our Lord often and ask Him to remove any evil in us…to show us the way to a pure love for Him that can only come from Him. We humans have a way of wanting to do things ourselves, of putting pride into the mix whenever we can, of loving things, (even Godly things) more than Our Lord. We need to constantly be on our faces before Him in repentance and re-dedicate ourselves to Him and Him alone!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 15

15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 15

The Gospel has been spread to the ends of the earth, and the Body of Christ is increased….the Nation of Heaven is enlarged.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 16-18

16 Lord, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.

17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Lord.

18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 16-18

Of ourselves, we are weak, and could not bring about goodness and righteousness in the world. We try, painfully, to impress the Lord, and obey Him, but we always fall short because we are merely human.

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 26, VS 1-11

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 26, VS 1-11

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 1-4

” In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.

2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 1-4

v. 1-4– These are some of the most beautiful words God has given us! In them we can see the power and love He gives to His Children! Notice, in verse 2, he asks for the righteous nation (people) to be allowed in the protection and Love of God —specifically those who keep the Truth. Again, we see that God MUST be worshiped in Spirit and Truth.

Verse 3 repeats what is the theme all throughout God’s Word—Our minds must be stayed on Him, and we must trust in Him alone. That is the depths and simplicity of Christianity.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 5-6

5″ For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.6.  The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 5-6

  1. 5-6″—Those of the world, the powerful rulers, and those individuals with a haughty attitude, will be trod upon by those who rely on the Lord for their strength.”

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 7

7 “The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 7

v. 7– Uprightness is judged only by God. Therefore, those who are most upright are only those who devote themselves, and give themselves totally to Him. As Jesus said in John 20:21-23, His people have the power to forgive sins through the counsel of the Holy Spirit. For, as Jesus said Which is easier to say, your sins are forgiven, or stand up and walk? (Mark 2:9) We, of ourselves, of course, are totally useless, but working in total conjunction with the Spirit of God, we will do greater things than these . (John 14:12). So we, through the Holy Spirit, will weigh the path of the just”. (Matthew 18:

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 8-9

“Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 8-9

v.8-9– We desire God’s presence especially in the “nights” of our lives. How dark it seems when we feel so alone! We know we are constantly in His presence, but we’ve all experienced those times when we don’t feel so close and need to feel His Presence again. But when we constantly walk in His presence, we will always be ready for HisComing. And that will be when “Thy judgments are in the earth”

–When the Gospel is spread throughout the world, and the Great Tribulation is past, then the time for His return and judgment will come.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 26, VS 10-11

10″ Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord.  11.  Lord, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yeah, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 26, VS 10-11

v. 10-11– God gives everyone more than their share of chances to come to Him. In this verse, the word for “wicked” means really wicked–those who won’t turn to God when they know both sides, and know of God’s love for them. They choose wickedness over Godliness –even these, God will be willing to forgive if they’ll come to Him and repent, but (v. 11) they won’ t repent, even though they know they are going against Him and that He will forgive them if they do repent.  Verse 11 goes on to say that they will see, after they have been judged, and they will be sorry and ashamed that they did not take advantage of His Grace when it was available.   This is true of every one of us.   God has a time of Grace for Mankind in general, in the whole plan of salvation, and He has a time of Grace for each of us in our own lives.  In both instances, when the time is up, there is no more chance to obtain Grace and Forgiveness.   He knows how much time we need, and the decision is ours to take advantage of it or not.   We don’t know how long the offer of Grace will stand, because the human heart hardens a little more each time we reject His Voice, and turning to Him becomes more and more difficult as we stop listening.   He knows when the time has come when each of us would not turn to Him anymore because of the hardness of our hearts.   The word for “wicked 11 also means great confusion, and turbulence of mind.
