ISAIAH CHAPTER 29, VS 1-8

ISAIAH CHAPTER 29, VS 1-8

SCRIPTURE, CHAPTER 29 VS 1-4

Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.

  1.  Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt!   Add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.

2 Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.

3 And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.

4 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.”

APPLICATION, CHAPTER 29, VS 1-4

  1. 1-4—Sometimes the way God needs to work with us is to bring us down, and show us where we have gone wrong with Him or our fellow man. We need to repent often and totally so He can change and perfect us in His way.  We need to be on our faces in repentance and humility before Our Lord.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 29, VS 5

5 Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 29, VS 5

  1. 5—the Hebrew word translated “strangers” means to commit adultery, to turn aside, betray, become estranged…..therefore, He is saying that when the Holy Spirit works with us and shows us our sins, and we respond with repentance, our sins become light as vapor, (another meaning of the root word) or dust, as He forgives us and we are renewed in the Holy Spirit.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 29, VS 6

6 Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 29, VS 6

v. 6– When the Holy Spirit works, it sometimes seems like an earthquake, as it changes our whole being, and the flame of devouring fire devours our problem, sins, and failures.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 29, VS 7 & 8

7 And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

8 It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 29, VS 7 & 8

v. 7-8– And all of the false guilt Satan and his demons can put on us are only illusions (like dreams) after we have confessed and repented and were forgiven. Satan will try to tell us we are still guilty–but it is a dream–an illusion and lie from him! As if we think we are still guilty, but in the “morning”, we remember that we have repented from our heart, and been forgiven and renewed.
