ISAIAH, CHAPTER 45

CHAPTER 45

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 1-3

 Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 1-3

He is telling us He wants to do everything for us. The “gates of brass and bars of iron” are bondages we have been kept in. Jesus (symbolized in Cyrus, because Cyrus built the temple –see application for 44:28) will break them for us. He says He calls us by our name. OH! The beauty of that! He knows us inside and out, and He knew us the minute we were conceived (Isaiah 44:24 and Jeremiah 1:5)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 4

For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 4

He said He has surnamed us. He has given us His Name! We are in His family, and what a family to be in!!! He gives this all to us, even though we many times don’t act like children of the Almighty. Once the reality of this sinks into our hearts, and we realize the tremendous position we’ve been given, we can do nothing else, but devote our lives and hearts to Him, and stand on all the promises and victories He has won for us!! PRAISE THE LORD!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 5

I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 5

Our God–The Supreme God of gods–The Almighty Power of the Universe–has taken us as His children and clothed us with His robe– with His love and righteousness–to clothe someone in your clothes is a strong outward sign of totally giving oneself to another. God has given Himself to us to a degree that our minds just cannot comprehend!!! Still, we don’t know Him! He repeats this in v. 4 &5. He laments that His people don’t open themselves totally to be intimately close to Him, abiding in Him as vine and branches. (John 15:1-5)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 6

That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 6

In v. 5 He speaks to us directly. Here He speaks of “they”.

We who have been clothed by Him are to let others know of His love and not only tell them to turn to Him, but be transparent witnesses of His great love. We should be salt and light, (Mt 5:13-16) witnesses in word and action in our daily lives, so that others will know.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 7

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 7

The Lord is creator of Everything!! Still, He yearns for our love, and gave Himself for us~~truly AMAZING GRACE!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 8

Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have created it.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 8

These are the gifts of righteousness through Jesus Christ. He brought righteousness to the whole world to be used by those who accept it. The Holy Spirit is here even now, if we will choose to abide in Christ so we can feel and hear Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 9-10

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

10 Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 9-10

We are what the Lord makes us—whatever He has planned for us in our lives. We have no right to tell Him how to work (Romans 9:21). When we are totally submitted to Him, we want HIS will, whatever that is, and not our own.

Some modern preachers say we need to pray for much money, and be specific about what we want. This is truly demonic!!! First, we shouldn’t have our minds on the idols of material things, (Matthew chapter 6) and secondly, God will give us our needs when and if He, in His great wisdom, deems we need it.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 11

Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 11

He wants us, however, to come to Him concerning everything in our lives, not to tell Him how to do it, but to put ourselves into His hands, and His plan for each of us and the world as a whole. He has promised to communicate with us when we are abiding in Him in His Holy Spirit, and He wants us to

take advantage of that, and “put me in remembrance” Isaiah 43:26)—which is what He means by “command”. We need to study Scripture so we know what He has promised so we can fully participate in our relationship with Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 12

I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

3 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 12-13

He has created man, and has raised us up again after our fall, unto righteousness and power, and He will direct all our ways. We will build His city and let go the captives by spreading the gospel, and we won’t be rewarded for our works, we do it out of love for Him. We have already gotten our undeserved reward!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 14

Thus saith the Lord, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 14

The people of the world, who are captives of satan, without the salvation of Christ, will see His Peace in us and be turned to Him.

SCRIPTURES: CHAPTER 45, VS 15

Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 15

Sometimes it seems when things go wrong, that God is “hiding”, but He certainly is always with us! Our human weakness causes us to doubt sometimes. (Matthew 28:20) Sometimes He lets us feel abandoned so that we seek Him more deeply. He always knows what we need at all times to grow in Him.

Sometimes, also, when we are being a blessing to God, satan will deceive us and harass us by making God seem to be hiding. He also hides Himself from the unsaved, to make them understand that their coming to Him must be in Spirit and Truth. If it were easy, it would not be heartfelt nor would it last.

SCRIPTURES: CHAPTER 45, VS 16

They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 16

Those people who are of this world and think material things important, (makers of idols) are inevitably confused without the peace of Christ.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 17

But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 17

But we are saved by Him and have the peace of Christ.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 18

For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 18

He made the earth to be inhabited by those in His image and likeness, and not to be desolate, not to be inhabited by people who are spiritually dead—He wants all people alive in the Spirit, and that is who will be inhabiting the new earth at the end of time.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 19

I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 19

God has never hidden His Words—Nor His Love!!! He yearns for all to know Him intimately, and His Words are clear to those who truly seek to learn of Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 20

Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 20

He wants us to gather together—we that are disconnected from this world, and have our eyes on

Him. The people of this world don’t realize that God gave them everything and they think first of

the things of this world, and ignore Him who made these things for them, and will also save their souls, if they will truly turn to Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 21

Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 21

We are to tell these people—spread the Good News, and bring them to Christ. Let them look at it

and discuss where these things of this world really come from. When they open their hearts, they

will see the Truth, and see that……

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 22

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 22

The only way to be saved is through Christ (John 3:16-17, 1John 4:9)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 45, VS 23-25

I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

24 Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

25 In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 45, VS 23-25

A portion of this is often quoted, but not all of it.

God has sworn by Himself—He did this when he made the covenant with Abraham. He is

the greatest power, therefore one cannot swear by anything greater. We can be sure it will

happen exactly as He says. EVERY promise in the Word—EVERYTHING He ever told

us in our Spirits….It all will happen. It can’t be any other way!!!!

END OF CHAPTER 45

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 44

CHAPTER 44

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 1-4

Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

2 Thus saith the Lord that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 1-4

These are all very beautiful promises of the Joys and Powers through the Holy Spirit

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 5

One shall say, I am the Lord’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 5

He is describing how His people divide up into denominations. They’ve been doing it since New Testament times, and are still doing it, and not focusing on the one-ness of the true, repented and saved Body of Christ.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 6-8

Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 6-8

We must all join in Him. He is all we need.—the First and the Last, Beginning and the End. The doctrines and differences between us melt away when we focus our hearts and minds and spirits on Him alone! He is our only God! Sometimes we can get so tied up in “church” that we make a god of that. Then our church becomes our idol.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 9-15

They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

10 Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.

12 The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.

13 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

14 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.

15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 9-15

Our graven images are our worldly things. We work and make our lives “successful” and feel we did it with our own hands, but all these worldly treasures are perishable. They won’t last, and we, being weak, can’t keep up without the help of God, Who gave us these things. Still, we claim we did it all ourselves (Jeremiah 10:3-5) This is modern day idolotry.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 16

He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 16

We use material things, and we feel they are important, and say, “aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire”. We think, because we have seen happiness, or what the world calls happiness, that we must be happy; we see fire, we feel warm; but we don’t know, until the Spirit of the Lord reveals it, just how cold and empty we really are. (Revelation 3:17-18)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 17

And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 17

Whenever we ignore God in our lives, we are making a god of our natural lives. So, when we fall into trouble, we are still looking to the world system to save us. We, as God’s people, need to be so devoted to Jesus Christ, and so abiding in Him, as to look always to Him first and always.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 18-20

They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

19 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

20 He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 18-20

Without listening to the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, we cannot understand these things, how God has given us the things of the world for our use, but not to take the place of Him in our lives. This is why He said those that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and Truth. We are to live to give, to be prosperous for the Lord, and not for ourselves. As long as we put Him first, we will be prosperous. He will provide whatever we need in this world, but the lie comes when we put material things foremost and talk to the Lord when we have time, or when we have a problem. Material things should be irrelevant. If we are totally submitted to the will of God, we will trust that He will give us what we need, and that is prosperity.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 21-22

Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 21-22

He makes it clear that all we need do is come to Him in repentance and we are forgiven. He pleads with us, because He is bursting with Love for us!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 23

Sing, O ye heavens; for the Lord hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 23

“The Lord hath done it.” The Lord has already forgiven us. All we need do is repent and accept His forgiveness, and His Power and Protection!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 24-25

 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 24-25

We must remember we’re nothing on our own. Even to those who don’t realize it, He is giving. Even though they take the credit themselves, it is all from Him.

Those who are going through this life without Him—working from themselves, taking

the credit, don’t understand that He still is controlling all things even in their lives. He made the heavens and earth in every detail by Himself, He can certainly keep it going by Himself.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 26

That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 26

He is the God that performs everything He says through His servants; It is He Who inhabits His people. He dwells in us, and raises up our once dead spirits to new life!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 27

That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 27

But those who chose not to follow after Him, will not have the flow of the Living Waters and will be dry.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 44, VS 28

That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 44, VS 28

The Ne Jerusalem’s foundation is built right now, and we are the foundation, the living stones (Revelations 21:19) made firm and strong and precious by the revelations of Christ (1Peter 2:5)

Cyrus, in History, was a Persian king who had Solomon’s Temple rebuilt after it was destroyed. Here, he is a type of Jesus Christ, who brought about the New Testament, where His people, those who accept Him as Lord and Saviour, are the stones of the temple. We are the Temples of the Holy Spirit, and thus, Christ rebuilt the Temple as Cyrus did in the Old Testament. (1 Cor. 3:16-17; 1 Cor 6:19;

2 Corinthians 6:16; Rev. 3:12)

END OF CHAPTER 44

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 43

CHAPTER 43

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 1

But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 1

We are His people through Jesus Christ, we are recipients of all these things!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 2-7

2 When thou passest through waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 2-7

He is telling of the power and protection we have against satan, how he already has been defeated, and the Lord will demonstrate this to all who believe, and abide in Him through the Holy Spirit.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 8

Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 8

The blind who have eyes, and the deaf who have ears are those chosen people who are called by Him, but who as yet have not been told the Good News. When they do hear of it, they will be fertile soil for the seed to fall on, and it will produce.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 9

Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 9

The word for “former” means “first, or foremost in importance” and the word for “justified” means to be declared innocent. Thus, He is calling all people together to listen to the things of God, the only important things we will hear, and when people hear, ….really hear, and understand, they will be justified, or declared innocent through Christ, and know that it is truth, and that His Word is firm, sure, and stable.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 10-13

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.

12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 10-13

His people are His witnesses. Through the Holy Spirit, we, as a collective body, are to know and totally understand God and His tremendous Love.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 14

Thus saith the Lord, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 14

He has sent Jesus to Babylon, or hell, and put down all of satan’s power.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 15-117

15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.

16 Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 15-17

15-16 God has made a total victory at Calvary. People can’t seem to believe that. They believe in their salvation after this life, but not in their salvation during it. He has given us new hearts and souls to go with our newly quickened spirits that can hear His voice. 17 The word for “army” means “might, or power”. He brought forth the destruction and extinction of all the power, tools, and might of satan. His hold on earth is extinct!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 18

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 18

We are believing satan’s lies and remembering when he had great influence over us before our salvation. That is all over with! We are a new creation now, and we are looking to the Author and Finisher of our faith! (Hebrews 12:2)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 19-20

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 19-20

He will give the rivers of life—the Living Water, which will make the dragons and owls, representative of satan’s forces, honor God, not because they want to, but because they will be forced to because of what Jesus Christ has done.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 21

This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 21

He has made us to be a delight to Him, He dwells in the praises of His people. (Psalms 22:3). We are His masterpieces, His pride and joy!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 22

But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 22

Yet, many times we, His people, His delight, ignore Him. We go about our business, and don’t talk to Him as a friend. It is so heartbreaking to Him!!! God has a tremendous aching in His heart to do things for us, to show His Love for us, and so many times we don’t accept the things, because its hard for us to believe that God Almighty wants to be a servant to His people in the little things. But that is exactly what He wants! He wants to help us in every detail of our lives. In 1 Chronicles 16:9, it says, “The Lord’s eyes run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him.” But He wants our friendship and love all the time, not just in times of trouble. So many times we go to Him in trouble, but forget that He is with us constantly and wants us to share every thought with Him. (Jeremiah 2:27-29; Deuteronomy 8:13 & 14).

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 23-24

Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.

24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 23-24

But we haven’t turned completely to Him. We haven’t given Him all our weaknesses and problems as sacrifices and offerings. We’ve simply ignored Him! Our greatest weapon against satan in this world is our weakness. God’s entire plan of Salvation revolves around us relying on Him for everything. He used Adam’s weakness to our advantage and His advantage, and turned satan’s plan around in his face. It is the reverse of how God’s Grace was lost by Adam, when he started relying on his own understanding instead of God’s. God, Jesus, the Word, and Love, are all one in the same Person. All we must do to help fulfill the plan and subdue satan in our life and others is to accept God’s full Love in our life, which is accepting God, which is accepting Jesus, which is putting God’s Word into our lives, which is putting it into the earth, which is putting Jesus into the earth, Who will lock up satan once and for all at the end! So it is so important to read the Word and think about and talk to Jesus as constantly as possible, and thereby keep putting the Word into the Earth. That’s why God values our weaknesses, because when we realize them and turn to Him to correct them, he does it by giving us more Love and more Word, and therefore more of Him which increases His Word in the earth, and gives Him a chance to cause us to fully be the New Creation He created us to be. Therefore, the greatest prayer is that of total submission to Him, making His Great Plan come full circle!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 25-26

25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 25-26

God begs us to give Him our sins so He can forgive them—to “remind Him” that He promised that. This is why we need to study Scripture….to know the promises He has given us, so we can accept them into our hearts and lives. This doesn’t mean memorizing…that is head knowledge. We need to read the entire Bible, praying for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, so we can understand the entire plan, and the thoughts of God, and when we need the verses, the Holy Spirit will bring them back to us.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 27-28

Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 27-28

The word translated “teachers” originally meant to mock, scoff, but soon came to mean “one who interprets”, or tries to speak a foreign language. Our first father, Adam, sinned, and since then, men have tried to figure out how to get back with God, and have complicated it so much, that it has become a sin in itself. Religion is an abomination to God, and many of the Christian denominations are playing religion, because they have profaned and diluted the true Gospel and focused on rituals, doctrines, and differences between groups, instead of Jesus Christ alone, and abiding in Him through the Holy Spirit.

END OF CHAPTER 43

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 42

CHAPTER 42

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 1

Behold my servant, whom I upheld; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 1

Speaking of Jesus, Who shall bring Gentiles to Him, and we shall be judged by the same standards as His chosen people, the Jews.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 2

He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 2

Jesus was meek and humble. He didn’t make a spectacle of Himself.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 3

A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 3

We are weak, just as a “bruised reed”, bruised by our own choices and by satan’s minion’s lies, ready to break and deserving hell. He will have mercy, and when our faith is burning low (“smoking”), He will not let it go out.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 4

He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 4

He will not fail ’til He puts His Word (judgment) into the earth, and the lonely, unsaved people (“isles”) wait for Him. It is our purpose to put His Word into the earth. He does it through His people. Every time we pray, think of Him, live for Him, thank Him, trust Him, give ourselves to Him, obey Him, read about Him, or talk about Him, we are putting His Word into the Earth. When enough of His Word is in the earth, His Second Coming will happen, and satan will be put “out of business” for good!! We are the Salt of the Earth (Luke 14:34-35; Matthew 5:13; and Mark 9:50). Salt is a flavoring, but it is also a preservative. We are to preserve His Word in the Earth until that time. (See Isaiah 55:11). When we die, the Word we put into the earth stays there, so we benefit from previous people’s preservation of the Word, and our descendants will benefit from ours.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 5-9

Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

6 I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

8 I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 5-9

In these magnificent verses, God tells us of the New Covenant through Jesus Christ. The New Covenant was brought about by the change of roles of Jesus. He was the Messiah, the Victim of the Sacrifice, and the Priest of the Sacrifice. He was you and me, and He was sin itself. First, He was you and me, at the Garden, taking on all our sufferings, pain, feelings, regrets. Then He became our very sin—each of us individually and all of us collectively, and sin itself as He hung on the cross. That is why He was transformed into something despised and hideous. In Psalms 22:6, we see, “But I am a worm and no man, a reproach of men, and despised of the people.”

On Resurrection Morning, Jesus said to Mary, “Don’t touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.” (John 20:17), but yet that same afternoon, He told His disciples to “handle” Him.. (John 20:27; Luke 24:39). These two verses tell us three things: 1. That He ascended to Heaven sometime on Resurrection Day, 2. That He didn’t have “flesh and blood”, but “flesh and bone”, (Luke 24:39) and 3 That when Mary saw Him in the morning, He was in the middle of something very sacred and couldn’t touch anything impure. The Temple, Mercy Seat, Holy of Holies, which Moses told the Israelites to make according to God’s instruction, (Exodus 25:1; 31:18) was a smaller, exact replica of the same things in heaven. So the Jewish sacrifices made yearly for atonement for sin were small inactments of the Ultimate Sacrifice made by Jesus. (Hebrews 9). On the cross, Jesus was the sacrificial lamb, in Hell, He was the Victor, back into His body, to have the blood, to sprinkle the blood on the Mercy Seat in Heaven, to purify everything, as the Jewish priests sprinkled the Mercy Seat in the Holy of Holies here on earth every year with the blood of lambs. He was on His way to heaven, to deliver the blood of the Lamb to the Holy of Holies, when He saw Mary. When in the middle of a sacred thing like that, He couldn’t be touched by anything or anyone impure until the action was complete. This is why He said, “flesh and bone” instead of “flesh and blood” later, with His disciples, because after He came back that afternoon, His blood was still on the Mercy Seat in heaven!!! That also explains why an angel opened the stone across the entrance to the tomb, instead of Himself opening it, or going through it as He did later on when he walked through the wall. (John 20:26

“And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.”). As yet, He still had His blood, and a regular, re-living body, with blood, so He couldn’t walk through the stone, nor the tomb, nor could He touch it and desecrate Himself, being in the middle of the priestly duties, so the Angel rolled it away for Him (See application for Isaiah 52:15) After he came back to earth, He had His Resurrection Body, like the one we will have at our resurrection!!! Praise the Lord

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 10-12

10 Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

12 Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare his praise in the islands.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 10-12

Everyone is called to rejoice in His New Covenant, and declare His Praise!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 13

The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 13

The word “man” here refers to man as opposed to God, and “jealousy” means ardent zeal. He is speaking of Jesus coming as a man, in the fulfillment of the Covenant, not as God. He is giving us that same ardent zeal that He has. He was a man just like us, and we also should roar against our enemies spiritually.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 14-15

I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.

15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 14-15

From Adam’s fall until Jesus’ coming, God more or less kept quiet, except to a few chosen people, mostly prophets, but now He is roaring against satan, because he has been defeated and is still roaming around in his lies! Satan is a dried up pool.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 16

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 16

This is a beautiful and well-quoted verse showing God’s eternal promises!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 17

They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 17

But those who still cling to the things of this world cannot feel nor understand His great love and kindness. Even we, as Christians, who trust in our salvation through Jesus, sometimes don’t turn to fully living His life in this life (Jeremiah 44:3-5 and 48:7). Sometimes we tend to forget God when things are going good, and turn to Him only in troubles. (Jeremiah 2:27-29 and Deuteronomy 8:13 &14)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 18-20

Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the Lord’s servant?

20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 18-20

So many of us who claim Jesus as our Lord, can be very blind. Jesus said, to whom more is given, more is expected. He expects more of His chosen people than to read a little of the Bible everyday as an “assignment”. He wants us to really seek Him—-not carnally, or intellectually, for that way we are blind—but spiritually, for that way we can see (Deuteronomy 4:9 and 4:29-32).

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 21

The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 21

The Lord is happy to make His New Covenant with us. By this new covenant, we are recipients of the Old Covenant and all the promises made at Mt. Horeb. (Deuteronomy 5:2 &3)

SCRIPTURES: CHAPTER 42, VS 22

2 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 22

But so many people are kept in satan’s prison, and told we cannot receive these promises, that they were for the Old Testament Jews only. They are for us, the descendents of Abraham, make no mistake!

(Galatians 3:14)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 42, VS 23-25

23Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?

24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the Lord, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.

25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 42, VS 23-25

Who will listen to what the Lord wants for the future? God has no choice but to let us go when we refuse to turn to Him and accept His protection. He gave us free will and when we refuse to walk with Him, he can’t help us. When this happens, people don’t realize it. They don’t know what power they have through Christ, because they’ve been lied to so long. Jesus said in Luke 11:23 that “he that gathereth not with Me scattereth”. If we are not gathering and developing our personal relationship to Our Lord, we are scattering, both for ourselves and others. Look what He did to His chosen people when they disobeyed His laws. He let them choose their own way, because the final choice is always with the person. He must do the same with us if we choose to turn from Him in our hearts.

END OF CHAPTER 42

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 41

CHAPTER 41

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 1-7

1 Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

2 Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

3 He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am he.

5 The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

6 They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

7 So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 1-7

1 Islands are people trying to live alone, without God’s strength and help. God says, “keep silent,” don’t ridicule My children who want to come to Me. 2-4 The Lord has helped righteous men all through history…..those who turn to Him to become righteous. 5 The isles (those alone, without God) were afraid, but those who were to turn to God did turn to Him, because of the miracles. 6-7 Those who turn to the Lord feel the Love of God for each other, and work together to build His Kingdom—each with his own assignment and talents given by The Lord.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 8-10

8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

9 Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 8-10

We are the recipients of all these beautiful promises through Jesus, if we have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior, and are living for Him. We have been grafted in as the seed of Abraham, according to Romans chapter 11.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 11-13

11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 11-13

Those who are “incensed against thee” is our former self, with its sinful ways. God will help us diminish our sinful ways and they will be “as nothing”, as we go to Him for forgiveness each time we stray, and cling to Him, allowing Him to change us on the inside. This is how He will be able to help us, and hold our right hand.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 14

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 14

The Lord calls us worms—that is what we are of ourselves-nothing without the strength of Our Lord.

Realizing this causes us to cling to Him for everything, and be willing to be used by Him for the benefit of the Kingdom of God and for His Glory.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 15

15 Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 15

The threshing instrument is the Word of God in our spirits by the Holy Spirit. We will beat down the mountains of this material world in our lives, and our flesh and make smooth our path with the strength of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 16

16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 16

Our problems, fears, enemies, etc will “blow in the wind” as we see the Glory of God in Jesus in this life. This is done by keeping our hearts and minds only on Him, applying it to everything in our lives.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 17

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 17

God will give our thirsty souls His Living Water, as Jesus told us in John 7:38, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 18

18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 18

“Rivers in high places and fountains in the valleys” All people, whether they have high or low positions in this world, will be offered His Living Water. Jesus is our “pool in the wilderness and spring on dry land”. All we need to do is drink it!!! Also, the high places and valleys can pertain to our emotions. No matter how we feel, He is there. Sometimes we don’t feel so close to Him, but He reassures us that even when we’re down, He is there.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 19-20

19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 19-20

All different people will live side-by-side in Jesus’ love and tape the same water from His Spirit, and together we will learn to understand Him better, as He reveals some things to some, and other things to others.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 21-24

21 Produce your cause, saith the Lord; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 21-24

21-24– God is speaking to Satan–telling him to prove his worth and power as the god of this earth. God is still in control, even though Satan has gained a certain amount of control through his people, but God challenges him to prove he is the god of this earth, knowing he will fail.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 25

I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 25

Jesus is the One raised up from the north, and calling on the name of the Father. He treads the princes of this world (satan’s forces) under His feet as clay. A potter only treads the worthless clay under his feet. That is what He will do with satan, who is His creature who turned against God. We are His created creatures also, but we were created in His image, and are saved. He would never trample us underfoot. Instead, He molds us, creating a masterwork out of each of us in a unique way for each of us. He is the Potter, and we are the clay but satan is the enemy.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 26

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? And beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? Yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 26

The word for “heareth” means to totally understand, to give one’s entire attention to. There are many predictions in the Old Testament that point the way to Jesus, but none mention Him by name, so reading carnally, it would be difficult at that time, especially, to believe He was the One, especially since so many false messiahs had come before. There is a reason why the Word is written mysteriously, and sometimes symbolically. It is the same reason Jesus spoke in parables when He was on earth, so only the people with the Holy Spirit directing them, would understand what He was saying, or what is written. So it is today.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 17

The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 27

God says, “behold My Words”, and when we do that, He does, indeed, give us the “one that bringeth good tidings”. Jesus is the only one with those good tidings.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 41, VS 28-29

8 For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

29 Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 41, VS 28-29

For when we read God’s Word with our minds, we cannot answer wisely, because we’re then speaking of ourselves, and not of the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Jesus speaks of this in Luke 8:16, when He speaks of the lighted candle put out for the world to see. The light is the Holy Spirit. We are the stand. He lights up God’s Truths, nothing is hidden to our spirits once we receive Christ. All truths will be revealed to us in God’s time and His way, some to one member, some to another, and together we receive all the Truth. That is why oneness in the Body is so important, because none of us receives the Whole Truth. “Take heed therefore how ye hear” (Luke 8:18) We must listen in the spirit and not with our minds; if we do, we will be given more, if not, we will lose the light, as satan steals the word from us. “And these are they by the way side, where the Word is sown; but when they have heard, satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the Word that was sown in their hearts.” (Mark 4:15). Matthew 13:12 “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.”

END OF CHAPTER 41

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 40

CHAPTER 40

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 1-2

1Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 1-2

This is another promise from God that Jesus has already accomplished our warfare with satan, and we are free, not only of our own sins, but of our bondage to satan, because Jesus received our punishment from the Father’s hand double for our sins.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 3

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 3

This is, of course, describing the appearance of John the Baptist (Matthew 3:3; Mark 1:3; Luke 3:4;). When Jesus identified John with these words, He knew that anyone who was familiar with scripture (including the pharisees) would recognize this as the time of the coming of the Messiah. But, in the sense of this writing, within ourselves, it represents the Holy Spirit working in our hearts to cause us to repent, to make a way for us to give ourselves to Our Lord, Our Messiah, Jesus Christ.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 4

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 4

The valleys and hills of our emotions and desires can be leveled and made smooth in peace and love by Jesus.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 5

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 5

The word translated “glory” means to be heavy, weighty, with the good things from God. All of God’s gifts and promises of victory through Christ are revealed through the Holy Spirit right now!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 6-8

6The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:

7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 6-8

We people are nothing of ourselves, we are temporary, weak and fragile alone, but with the Word of God and faith behind it, we are strong! (Psalms 90:5; 1Peter 1:24; James 1:10; Deuteronomy 17&18) What can we announce to others, when we are but withering grass ourselves? We can only proclaim Our Lord!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 9

O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 9

We must proclaim the Lord in word and action. We are just withering grass, and have nothing to say, but we CAN and MUST proclaim Our Lord! He it is Who saves!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 10-11

10 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 10-11

And, when we proclaim the Lord to others, He will step in and show Himself to them, as Savior and Shepherd. Jesus, Our Shepherd and Loving leader! (Hebrews 13:20; John 10:11).

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 12-17

12Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counselor hath taught him?

14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 12-17

In apparent contrast to the previous scriptures, which show the gentleness and protection of the Lord, these verses emphasize His tremendous Power, Wisdom, and Greatness, which we cannot comprehend. It is astounding that a Being this tremendous can love the littlest things about each of us!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 18-24

18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.

21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 18-24

Nothing man-made or in His creation comes near to His Greatness. Yet, leaders and citizens alike struggle and worry about the affairs of this world. He is in control of everything we could possibly imagine, yet, He is concerned with the littlest bug in the earth !!! (Luke 12: 6-7)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 25-28

25To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 25-28

Sometimes we claim we trust God, but still we worry and work as though we don’t. We must take time to think about His Greatness…….his Wisdom in all possible things we could think of. We are accustomed to thinking about things in the concept of time and human frailty…..the end of the day, the end of the job, the end of a life—–tiredness, weariness, and weakness. There is none of these things with God…..He is Forever Strong, forever Capable, and Forever in control!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 40, VS 29-31

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 40, VS 29-31

Even the strongest of men get tired, but those that trust in God have His strength and will never tire, because they build the “muscles” of their spirit instead of their natural man. Eagles are used to denote the strength we get from God. Eagles get their ability from four things the Creator has given them: Tremendous eyesight, a sharp, curved beak that can tear into meat, strong wings to lift them gracefully and swiftly into the air, and sharp talons on their feet to hold down the meat as they tear it up. God has given us these weapons also. He has given us the eyes to see into spiritual things to know the powers, love, and duties he has for each of us, He gives us our mouths to tear into satan’s forces with the Word of God –The sharp Word of God that makes him back down when he hears “it is written”. He gives us strong wings to keep us above the things of this world. We must rise above our natural selves and the desires and temptations of this world with the wings He gives us. He also gives us a strong foundation for our feet, to hold satan and his demons down, as we tear into their lies and deception in the Mighty Name of Jesus. (Deuteronomy 32:11)
