ISAIAH, CHAPTER 28, VERSES 7-12

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 28, VERSES 7-12

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 28, VS 7&8

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 28, VS 7-8

Many of the Lord’s own people–many church leaders have fallen to the “crown of pride” (v. 1) and have drunk the “strong drink” Satan has offered them. They sit at the table of the Lord, professing His Salvation, yet, they are not living with Him in their hearts. They are losing sight of true Grace, and diluting the Real Gospel with a lot of rituals and rules. They are seeking glory and power for themselves–worldly power, not Christ’s Body’s power over satan. They are looking for a healthy, prosperous, powerful life in this world, instead of seeking the True Will of God for their lives, devoting themselves only to Knowing Him and Him alone. This is sickening to God. Jesus will say to them, “I do not know you” (John 15:15)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 28, VS 9-12

9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 28, VS 9-12

So, God is revealing His Truths to “Babes” (See Matthew 11:25). He is pouring out His Holy Spirit upon the Body of Christ. He is giving wonderful revelations to the “little people”–who will take it with more humbleness and love.

v. 10– Little by little, line by line, through different people, revealing some things to one person, some to another. Not through mega churches and rich, powerful preachers, but to His common, humble people who truly Know Him.

v. 11– This is an undeniable reference to His Still Small Voice in our spirits, that silent knowledge of His Presence. He speaks to us in the Spirit, and we speak to Him in the Spirit—He must be worshiped in Spirit and truth—not only in mind. The gifts of the Spirit are going to be stronger than ever!! Some speak out loud, others have a silent, but just as real, connection of Spirit with Our Lord.

v. 12—This rest is the rest of Jesus’ wonderful peace, and the comfort of the Comforter (Holy Spirit). But there are those today who will still deny the presence of the Holy Spirit. To do this is to deny Jesus and the Father. The Holy Spirit is the Messenger. He is God.
