ISAIAH, CHAPTER 66

CHAPTER 66

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 1-2

1 Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?

2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 1-2

God says he made everything, but there are no cathedrals, temples, or anything we can build Him that would impress Him. He wants a place He can rest, and He found it in the saved man, who has a humble and contrite heart, and loves and fears God in a respectful way. That is what He says is the greatest thing He has made.

SCRIPTURE, CHAPTER 66, VS 3

He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

APPLICATION, CHAPTER 66, VS 3

Again He speaks of those who are not of contrite heart, who go through the rituals of sacrifice, but their hearts are not right, so their sacrifices turn into abominations.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 4

I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 4

Even for their obvious religious actions, they are far from Him. Jesus said in Mark 7:13 that religious traditions make the Word of God of none effect. Religious people lose the realization of their part in the Body of Christ, and their part in God’s power. The voice of the Holy Spirit is dulled and even silenced in their spirits, as they seek God carnally instead of through the Holy Spirit and their spirits. So, these people are also dulled in the fears, not by God’s choice, but by their own, because they have chosen the carnal approach to God, which is easily infiltrated by satan via feelings, emotions and fears, which are not a part of the spirit. Satan cannot affect our spirits—only our bodily emotions and actions. That’s part of the reason why Jesus always said to walk in the spirit.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 5-6

5 Hear the Word of the Lord, ye that tremble at His Word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for My Name’s sake, said, “Let the Lord be glorified:” but He shall appear to your joy and they shall be ashamed.

6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the Lord that rendereth recompence to his enemies.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 5-6

When “religious” people cast out the real Christians, shaming them for not taking part in empty rituals, the Lord says, He will appear to the real Christians, and the others will see and be ashamed. He says there will be those who live for worldly things, those who live to be someone important in the Church world, and they will all raise their voices. But the only one that counts is the Lord Himself, and His voice rings with power!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 7-8

7  Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.

8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 7-8

The Holy Spirit is our Mother in a sense. He travails in His desire to recreate our spirits and bring forth a new creation. The Lord brings forth nations one person at a time. The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, Comforter, Nourisher, all the things a mother is. Besides one person at a time, He nurtures entire nations.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 9

9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 9

He hovers over His people as He hovered over the universe as He created it. He doesn’t bring people through life and not give them every possible chance to be saved.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 10-13

10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:

11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.

12 For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.

13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 10-13

Rejoice!!! AH!! How many times does the Lord tell us that?!! He tells us to rejoice in each other, to share the Lord’s Words and His Glory through songs, the Word, and each other. Our nourishment is from the Holy Spirit. He protects and cuddles us like a mother. (see vs. 7)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 14

And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the Lord shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 14

When we not only receive the Holy Spirit, but learn to see Him as our Comforter, Guide, Counselor, etc., then we will flourish and He will be able to guide every detail of our lives.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 15-16

15  For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

16 For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 15-16

He will purify the evil from His people.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 17-18

17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.

18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 17-18

He will expose the evil in those churches and individuals who appear to be so devoted, but their hearts are not right with the Lord.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 19-20

19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 19-20

Those who see the error of their ways, and come to Him in true repentance, will escape the final punishment (lack of salvation) and they will speak to others, and declare His Glory, saving many from the hypocracy.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 21

And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the Lord.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 21

He will make new “priests” out of the regular people—those who did not take part in the blasphemous hypocrisy and they will lead the people directly to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 22

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 22

The True Church will forever be His, and we will live with Him on the New Earth, under the New Heavens, which will be back the way it was in the Garden of Eden, when God walked the Earth to converse with His people!!!! OH! What a glorious thing to wait for!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 23

And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 23

All flesh will worship Him on the New Earth. Evil will be purged out and we will gloriously worship Him continually, not bound by rules and times that were devised by man.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 66, VS 24

And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 66, VS 24

God is righteous, and in the end all evil will be punished. Those who deliberately turn against Him when knowing all sides, must be punished, to rid His universe of evil once and for all.

By the magnificent Grace of God, may we cling to Him, and be a part of that great time!!!

END OF CHAPTER 66, AND THE END OF THE BOOK OF ISAIAH

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 65

CHAPTER 65

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 1

I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 1

He’s saying that we, as Gentiles, were not originally the children of God, the chosen race, but, because of the Jews’ rejection, we were given a chance.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 2

 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 2

He spreads out His hands constantly to His people, even though we want to think our own thoughts.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 3

 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 3

He is provoked to anger by people who do rituals but are not turned in their hearts to Him. That is true today as well as in history.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 4

 Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 4

Those who remain spiritually dead (graves), love the things of this world (lodge in monuments), and listen to satan (eat swine flesh) instead of humbling themselves to the Will of God.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 5

Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 5

These people think they are doing fine, pleasing God because of their rituals and fine church life, and don’t want to be seen with people who they think are “not good enough”

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 6-7

6 Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,

7 Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the Lord, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 6-7

These sins cannot and will not go unpunished, for God will not be mocked, and the worst sin is self-righteousness, which is blasphemy against God.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 8

Thus saith the Lord, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 8

But, there are some who do have the right hearts, and for that reason…

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 9-10

9  And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

10 And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 9-10

He gives us Jesus our Saviour to cling to, to submit to, to save us, and we shall inherit the Holy Mountain and dwell as His sheep.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 11

But ye are they that forsake the Lord, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 11

Again, He is speaking to those who do surface rituals, “play church”. Those who don’t put the Lord first in their lives and forget that they live on the Holy Mountain and think of the things of this world first.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 12

Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 12

Because He is a Just God, He must punish this. He gives them every change, but when they refuse to put aside their pride in self-worth, and come to Him humbly, he has no choice.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 13-14

13 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

14 Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 13-14

The Lord wants with all His heart to provide all that His children need and want, and what would make them beautiful in His eyes, but those who won’t open their hearts fully to Him, and continue to cling to the things of this world and self-righteousness, cannot absorb the beautiful things He wants to give. Therefore, although they have all the things they need, without His peace, Love, and all the other virtues He gives, they will never be content, no matter how much they strive to please Him. They will never feel His loving arms around them in this life, or know their salvation in the end.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 15

And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord God shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 15

Just as with His original chosen people, His elect today are those with their hearts open to Him, not those who go by a certain denomination, do certain “righteous” things, or memorize verses and statements in their minds, but haven’t humbled themselves from the deepest recesses of their beings.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 16

That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 16

Whenever we turn completely to Him in this life, bless ourselves with the entirety of the blessings that only come from Him, and swear allegiance to Him alone, our sins are forgiven and he sees them no more.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 17-18

17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

18  But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 17-18

He is speaking of the End, when He will destroy this earth and heavens and create new ones. At that time, he will forgive His chosen people, the Jews, as their eyes will be opened to accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour (their inflicted blindness will be healed), and we will all be one people to Him, with us grafted in with them in Jesus Christ. We will all rejoice in the New Jerusalem that will come down from the New Heavens! (Revelations chapter 21, Revelations 3:12,)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 19-20

19  And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 19-20

It will be a time of lasting peace, and rejoicing in our Lord and Saviour! There will be no sickness or poverty.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 21-22

21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 21-22

There won’t be fighting or war, work will be easier, and our lives will be longer.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 65, VS 23-25

23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them.

24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 65, VS 23-25

Oh! What a glorious world that will be! Animals will not be enemies, nor will men be enemies. I believe this is where we will see our pets again, for if the Lord can re-create our bodies, why not those of our pets? The best part is that there will be no human weakness to keep us from having full communication and appreciation of Our Lord, and be able to worship Him to the fullest!

END OF CHAPTER 65

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 64

CHAPTER 64

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 1

Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 1

This is a request for what we have already received spiritually. The heavens have been opened into our lives and he has come down that our mountains might flow down at His Presence within us and that he will make us into what he wants us to be.

Of course, we are waiting for His Glorious Coming at the end, which will be just like that!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 2

As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 2

When the melting fire of the Holy Spirit burns within us, it causes the Living Water within us to boil over with earnestness and desire to make His Name known—to encourage people to be open to His revealing of Himself to them. So those who don’t know Him will be awed at His wonderful Love and Glory!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 3

When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 3

God has done so much for all of us—mighty (which is what “terrible” means in the verse) and small miracles, which we sometimes even don’t know about, but our problems melt away in His grace, as we submit everything totally to Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 4

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 4

We can never, in our human mind and body perceive the incredible Love God has for us, nor the wonder of His great plan for eternity!!! (1Cor. 2:9) But our spirit can understand, after it has been made alive by the Holy Spirit!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 5

Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 5

“Meet” means to make intercession. Jesus makes intercession for those who have given themselves to Him and walk in the Spirit. He is hurt when we sin, but for those who walk with Him, there is shelter. He forgives our sins.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 6-7

6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 6-7

Of ourselves we are unclean, and can do no good thing. Even the things we do that we think are good, if we do them from ourselves, are not acceptable to Him because of our uncleanness. When we are good, it never lasts long—we fade like leaves that dry up off the tree. Our sinfulness leads us farther and farther from Him.

When we were spiritually dead, even when we did pray it was not with the Spirit, not with depth, so because we didn’t know Him.

The only way we could please Him, would be to totally depend upon Him for our righteousness, including individual acts of “goodness”. ….because we are the branches, and He is the Vine. (John 15:5) Everything comes from Him!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 8

But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 8

But now, since our rebirth, we are truly children of God and willing to give up our own efforts to please God, and submit to be molded by Him to use for His purposes. At the same time, we are made better and more pleasing to Him, which we could not do alone.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 9

Be not wroth very sore, O Lord, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 9

We ask forgiveness for anytime we stray from You, Lord, in our lives, or inner thoughts.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 10-11

10 Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

11 Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 10-11

We are His Holy Cities. We must lay ourselves waste, make ourselves desolate, think of nothing as more important than living with and for Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 64, VS 12

Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Lord? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 64, VS 12

We know when we do this we are saved, and He will day-by-day make us more and more like Him, and give us Love and Kindness instead of the justice we deserve, because Jesus took our punishement for us.

END OF CHAPTER 64

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 63

CHAPTER 63

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 1

Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 1

This is speaking of Jesus. He alone speaks in righteousness and is mighty to save.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 2-6

2  Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 2-6

His garments are stained with blood from treading the winepress of the wrath of God (Rev. 14:19-20 and 19:15) God had to punish Man for sin. His justice had to be done, but Jesus stood in the winepress instead of us—all alone—even without His connection to the Father (Matthew 27:46 ) and the wrath of God came down full force on Him for all mankind from the beginning of time until the end!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 7

I will mention the loving kindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 7

We will all praise God for His loving Kindness to us!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 8

For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 8

He calls us children who will not lie. We are not slaves to sin anymore. The word for “lie” denotes a covenant breaking act. We are covenant bound to God!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 9

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 9

Jesus took on our afflictions for us. His very presence instead of ours, is what saved us. He redeemed us purely because of His Love for us. He didn’t have to do it. He has always been our God, even from the days of old. He is the “Ancient of Days”

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 10

But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 10

But, after all that, some people refuse to believe all the wonderful things He did for us! They cannot be saved. It is not God who condemns them but themselves. They must take their own part in the wrath of God if they won’t accept Jesus to take it for them.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 11-13

11Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 11-13God remembers all the things He did for us through the ages. He leads us through our life so we don’t stumble on satan’s lies.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 14

As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 14

When satan tries to bring up our past to us, to make us forget our Joy in the Lord, to tempt us, depress us, haunt us with our old selves, when “the beast” tries to go into “our valley’, God stops him! He can’t get hold of us anymore, and so the Spirit leads us to reject satan’s lies and make a glorious name for the Lord.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 15

Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 15

This is our prayer to Our Father, asking for His strength, His joy, His very life within us, and His mercy.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 16

Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 16

He is our father, though, (Abraham be ignorant of us)-not through geneology, as the Chosen People, but we have been grafted in, and are members of the chosen race through Jesus Christ.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 17

O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 17

Sometimes we feel far from God. We do things we know we don’t want to do, yet, we want to do them also. (Romans chapter 7) All we have to do is confess that openly to the Lord—even that some part of us still wants to do it—and ask for His Grace to become real to us again. He will give us the strength to stay on course.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 18

The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 18

“Our adversaries” are satan and his demons, and they can influence us to want to do and think things that are wrong. God’s sanctuary is our soul (our mind and will). We must keep it clean and occupied by Christ, and when they have “trodden it down”, we must first reject the evil, then run to the throne of Grace to repent and receive forgiveness along with strength, wisdom, and peace, to move on in the Lord.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 63, VS 19

We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 63, VS 19

We are Yours, Lord, but those thoughts that come to us from satan, are not, so we cast them out, run to You, and go on with You!

END OF CHAPTER 63

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 62

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 1

For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 1

We should not hold our peace until all who have been called by God will come to His glory!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 2

And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 2

All people do see our righteousness, and the Lord has called each of us by a new name. We are a new creation and our new name is pure, sinless, spotless, righteous, victorious, and joyous. (Rev. 2:17)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 3

Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 3

Jesus said in John 17:10 that we are glorified through Him. We are His Glory! We are His weapons against satan’s rule of the earth, which was given him by Adam’s sin.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 4

Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 4

Once we have Jesus we are never forsaken. We will never be desolate. We have a new name (Is 62:2 and Rev. 2:17) and a very personal relationship with Jesus that no one else ever had, has, or will have! He delights in everything about us. We are each beautiful to Him, and He wants to share every detail of our life with us! We are living His life since we made the exchange, and thus how can we make decisions without consulting Him, or live any moment apart from Him?!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 5

For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 5

We are all one—a corporate bride for Jesus. We are to be of one purpose, to praise God and rejoice in Jesus as he rejoices in us!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 6

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence,

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 6

We are protected. Satan can’t touch us once we’re saved by Christ. He wants us to witness of Him….keep not silent….shout it from the rooftops!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 7

And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 7

We must keep working until we’ve put all of Jesus’ body—God’s Word—into the earth and make the whole earth praise God!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 8-9

8 The Lord hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:

9 But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the Lord; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 8-9

Satan and his forces can’t take those given to God, and those people won to Christ will be our joy and our harvest for God.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 10

Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS. 10

We are to prepare the way for the people….show them the way…get God’s Word into the earth. The more that is there, the easier people will see the light. We are to “gather out the stones”—throw out satan’s strongholds, keep his stumbling stones from peoples’ paths, and ‘raise up a standard for the people” We are to be examples living for Christ and His Word. Our love should be our greatest standard for others to see, but we put His Word out by what we do in private also—praying, praising, studying the Word…whatever the Lord leads us to do for Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 62, VS 11-12

11 Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the Lord: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 62, VS 11-12

The Lord has proclaimed our salvation. We are to proclaim it to the World. Each man’s reward is with him. Our heavenly reward is already ours. We carry the assurance with us throughout our lives, our work is before us. We are to give our lives in service of the Lord, as the Spirit guides us, and people will know y our love, witness, and conduct, that we are not forsaken by God.

E ND OF CHAPTER 62

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 61

CHAPTER 61

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 1-3

1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 1-3

These verses refer to Jesus Christ, but His work is our work. We are His brothers and sisters in the Father. We are His Body and are to do everything he did by the Grace of God and the Power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ Name. (individual verses follow)

We are to preach Jesus to everyone to whom the Spirit leads us, in order to bind the brokenhearted, give them the hope of Christ, open the prisons…those in the prisons of their own selves, worldliness, selfishness, complacency, lack of faith, doubt, fear, etc. 2-To proclaim all that Christ has done for us. This is the acceptable year of the Lord—RIGHT NOW!!! THIS YEAR!!!! Comfort all that mourn, tell them about eternal life. 3- Produce joy and praising in peoples’ hearts to replace the heaviness of living without Christ’s love and peace. We do this by example and by intercessory prayer. We are called to bring more people to Him and His body can be completed and His glory can be complete and His word planted in the earth to take possession of it in His Name.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 4

And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 4

When we have Jesus in our hearts, we “build old wastes.” We are nothing but waste without Him, when we receive Him we crucify our former selves and “raise up former desolations”…build a new life around Him. We’re no longer empty and desolate, we are a new creation, full of the Full Godhead!!! and Jesus will help us rebuild our mind and emotions to join our re-created spirit.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 5

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 5

When we make Jesus the Lord of our life, we see how puny and unimportant the things of this world are. Others who have not seen Him will still see these things as important.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 6

But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 6

But our riches are in doing God’s will. We are all one people in the Lord. We share in His Spiritual riches.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 7

For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 7

God opened the door of Grace to all Gentiles (non-Jews) because of the refusal of His Chosen People (Jews) to be faithful to Him. (Romans 11)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 8

For I the Lord love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 8

God hates hypocrisy. He wants our hearts true. He directs our work in truth by His Word and the revealing of it through the Holy Spirit. His covenant with us through Jesus Christ is everlasting.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 9

And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 9

He is speaking here of us. We are known as God’s people and our seed is blessed!!! halleluia!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 10

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 10

Praise the Lord!!! He has clothed all of us in His Righteousness and Salvation. We are now His blood brothers, with a right to come confidently to the throne of the Almighty (Hebrews 4:16)—Creator of the Universe, knowing He loves each of us individually as though we were His only creation!!! Knowing, too, that we are totally unworthy in and of ourselves. He told us in Revelations 2:17 that He will give us a stone with our own special name.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 61, VS 11

For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 61, VS 11

His righteousness and praise springs forth from all nations! It’s happening now!! People are being saved by the thousands all over the world!!

END OF CHAPTER 61

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 60

CHAPTER 60

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 1

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 1

Praise the Lord! His Light has risen upon His people!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 2

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 2

Spiritual darkness covered the earth until Pentecost, and darkness covers our lives until the Light of Jesus Christ arises upon us. This doesn’t mean only in accepting Him as Savior, but in allowing Him into every detail of our lives, walking hand-in-hand with him every minute of every day, and accepting His guidance and challenges in our lives and relationships.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 3

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 3

He’s available to EVERYONE!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 4-7

4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.

6 The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the Lord.

7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 4-7

Look and see around the world. All the people that are coming to know Christ! All His people are one in the Lord. We all flow together in His Love. Jesus prayed for this in John, chapter 17.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 8

Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 8

What people will come to know Jesus—to see that he is their home, safety and peace, as a dove comes to its home? Our home is with Him. We come home as a homing pigeon, or dove, always comes home, no matter how long it is away.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 9

Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the Lord thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 9

In this case, “wait for” means to bind or gather together, and “glorify” means to make clear. All the people can come together to the Lord and give everything they have to Him because He has made Himself clear to us….the Holy Spirit reveals Him to us.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 10

And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 10

Even though we haven’t met many of God’s people throughout the world, we are all working together to build the walls of the Spiritual New Jerusalem –the foundation is being re-made. It was broken when Adam sinned, so the city is hanging with no foundation or connection to earth because of the broken communication between God and Man. Now Jesus and the Holy Spirit are re-building it. Everywhere a believer walks is the streets of the Spiritual New Jerusalem. This is spoken of in Revelations 3:12 and 21:2

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 11

Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 11

Our hearts shall be always open to bring more to worship Christ and to join the work of the Lord.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 12

For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 12

Those who don’t give themselves to the Lord and trust in the Salvation of Jesus, and victory and fellowship with Him in their lives, will perish because of unbelief.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 13

The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 13

Here, the word for “pine” means a species of wood, used for normal building purposes, the word for for “fir” is a totally different type of wood, used for making musical instruments, and “glorious” means heavy with a good thing. He is saying that He uses us all, with our varying personalities and characteristics. He uses some of us where we are, as the mention of the trees, and some He makes us into, or asks us to change our lives, as in making “boxes”. Either way, as we yield to His workings in our lives, he will make us into what we must be to do the plan he has for our lives, and to beautify the earth with his Word and presence in us, and make the Place of his Feet (the earth) heavily laden and full of His Presence and Glory. (glorious).

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 14-15

14 The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee; The city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

15 Whereas thou has been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 14-15

Then the world will know that God’s people are no fools and that we have Jesus in us. They will repent and turn to Jesus also.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 16

Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 16

Jesus will, through the Holy Spirit, rule the earth, through His people, until He comes again and rules Himself. We will gain spiritual nourishment from each other as we share His Word and pray.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 17

For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.

APPLICATION, CHAPTER 60, VS 17

From the Lord we get so much more—Everything we give Him, He gives us something much better. (brass-gold; iron-silver,etc) We have made an exchange with Jesus’ life—His for ours, and that is certainly an uneven exchange!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 18

Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 18

We are the City of Jerusalem. We have no more “wasting or destruction” in us with Christ. Our walls are the impenetrable Salvation of Jesus and he enters through our Praise!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 19-20

19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 19-20

We look to God for our light and not to the things of this world. Those things change and deteriorate and what we thought of as light disappears and is not constant, but God’s light is steady and everlasting. We have that light “as through a veil” now, but when Jesus comes back and establishes His Kingdom on the New Earth, it will be a literal as well as a spiritual, light.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 21

Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 21

We are the branches—Jesus is the Vine—God has planted us in Eternal Righteousness because of the Salvation of Jesus Christ. (John 15:1)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 60, VS 22

A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 60, VS 22

Through the Spirit even those of us who were considered small, weak, unintelligent, are great to God. He will do great works through His small and weak ones.

END OF CHAPTER 60

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 59

CHAPTER 59

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 1

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 1

God is still the same as He always was—He never changes, and he is still ready, willing, and able to perform all the wonderful things he did in the days of the Old Testament.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 2

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 2

But our distance from Him in our hearts doesn’t allow us to hear Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 3-8

3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

5 They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.

8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 3-8

Without His guidance we will continually fall into sin—we cannot please God of ourselves—and we can know no peace apart from Jesus. Without Him we are working for the devil—”hatching cockatrice eggs, and weaving spiders web…”

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 9-11

9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noon day as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.

11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 9-11

We can wait for God’s light all the time, and not find it—we’re groping in the dark and are spiritually dead without Jesus.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 12

 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 12

Because our sins keep us from Him, we are slaves to sin until we repent and let Him take them away.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 13

In transgressing and lying against the Lord, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 13

By not being totally, heart-deep honest with God, we are lying to Him and turning against Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 14

And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 14

“Truth is fallen in the street”..If we’re not true with ourselves and God, we’re living a false life, and Truth is truly fallen. In that state, we cannot receive the Truth that Transforms us.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 15

Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 15

But those who do turn to the Lord and give Him their lives are considered fools by the rest of the world. The Lord is displeased by this attitude of the people of this world.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 16

And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 16

God saw in the days of His Prophets of Old, that they were looked at with hatred by the world, as He sees today how His people are called fools. So he sent the Holy Spirit to be our strength, and Jesus as our salvation and our righteousness. (Psalm 69: 8-12)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 17

For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 17

Righteousness is our breastplate just as it is for Jesus, if we are saved. We wear all the clothing of Jesus. He gave us His clothing as a sign of the Covenant. Our position, our rights as a child, and heir of the Most High God and Creator of the universe, is our protection from satan. The helmet of salvation is on our head. It is the Crown of Glory made to protect us in battle. Satan can’t get through to put doubt in us as to our eternal glory. We have garments of vengeance and zeal for a cloak. These are the power and energy we are surrounded by every day in God’s Power and Love, as we walk by the Spirit and live in his Word. (Eph. 6:11-18)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 18

According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 18

He will guide us in our standings against satan and his powers, and we will see our victories in the name of Jesus.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 19

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 19

So that in the end the world will all see the Glory of God and the Spirit of the Lord will win totally over the enemy because of the Victory of Jesus Christ, and the last enemy, death, will bow its head to Jesus Christ, Lord of Lords and King of Kings!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 20

And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 20

All who turn to Jesus will be saved and forgiven.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 59, VS 21

As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 59, VS 21

This is a beautiful solemn promise from God. His Word is in us through the Holy Spirit, and will always be in us and our descendants. This is part of how he re-claims the earth, by putting His Word into the earth to stay forever and ever, and we are undeserving partakers of the blessings that come from his covenant. We are guaranteed not only Salvation, but an unfathomable loving relationship with our Lord and God!!!

END OF CHAPTER 59

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 58

CHAPTER 58

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 1&2

1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

2  Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 1&2

There are many people who want to please God, but they haven’t come to a pure, personal relationship with Him. They have been attending church, obeying church laws, but their hearts have not been stripped bear before the Lord.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 3

Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 3

“We’ve fasted, we’ve sacrificed our pleasures, gone without food, obeyed every church law, gone to services regularly—why doesn’t God find pleasure in that?” “Behold!” God says, “It’s precisely these things that keep you from Me—you rely on these things to please your God. (Psalm 51:16 & 17)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 4

Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 4

God says, “You obey the laws, and make public shows for others, so they think you are holy, but in your heart, you kill others with your unkind thoughts.”

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 5

Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 5

God says, “Is this what I want from you—to act pious on the outside?”

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 6

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 6

This is what God wants from us—to dig deep into our hearts and loose the bonds of wickedness—to be truly honest with ourselves and God so he can undo the heavy burdens of our hearts and set our oppressed souls free.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 7

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 7

He wants us to give of ourselves to Him and to others, both in material and spiritual goods, and “Hide not thyself from thy own flesh.” —We do this by being truly honest with ourselves, and digging deep and being honest with Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 8

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 8

Then, and only then, will we see His light. We will be enlightened and recreated in Spirit—born again—and reap all the rights of a Child of God!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 9

 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 9

Jesus is there when we speak honestly to Him. He will always answer us, and we will hear Him if we take off the yoke of pride in thinking we can please Him of ourselves, pointing the finger at others and saying that we’re doing more for the church, mankind, community, etc.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 10

And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 10

And if we stop thinking of ourselves, both materially and spiritually, and put others first, then we will see the light and we will have no darkness—for selfishness is darkness.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 11

And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 11

God guides us continually. He makes our lives as they should be. He will re-make our minds and souls to become more and more like Him, and the Living Water of Christ nourishes us. He cannot steer us wrong. He is perfect and will guide us to perfection, slowly, day by day.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 12

And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 12

We Christians are the bridges between the people and Christ, Who is their salvation. Through our testimony and our living His Word, putting it into the earth, we help Him restore the breach made by Adam and Eve and help open the door to bring many people to the Lord and Salvation.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 58, VS 13-14

13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 58, VS 13-14

When we follow God’s Word in our lives—living only by the Spirit, only speaking what the Spirit leads us to speak, then God will guide us in this life in all our ways and give us the promises in His Word as He leads us through life in His Will for us.

END OF CHAPTER 58

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 57

CHAPTER 57

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 1

The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 1

When good men die, people say “why did God take such a good man?” But sometimes He takes people to protect them from the evil in the world. We should be totally submitted to God’s will for us and our loved ones. We have no idea what His reasons are, but we know for sure that they are the BEST!! (Isaiah 55:9)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 2

He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 2

That person is resting in the glorious peace of God, and those who didn’t think he was worth much, are resting in their self-righteousness, which will get them nothing.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 3-4

3 But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore.

4 Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 3-4

He is speaking of people who ignore Him and His love and choose money, power, fun,…the shallow things of this world, which are sources of false happiness, and call those who put God first, fools.

They may seem happy now, but God knows their hearts, and He knows their refusal and ignoring attitude toward Him, which will cause their separation from Him, even as He is still trying to convince them to draw near to Him to try to save them.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 5

Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 5

He is speaking further to those who love the world more than God, and ignore, or participate in the killing of children both literally by abortion and infanticide, and spiritually by denying the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and thus condemning their children to ignorance. Jesus told us how important this is when He said in Mark 9:42,

“But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 6-7

6 Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?

7 Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 6-7

When we do this, we are akin to satan, as the serpent, and our place is under a stone. Even as that, under satan’s influence, we will turn things around with trickery, and make motions of worship, our hearts being far away. Smooth stones were worship items for some pagans. He’s saying that if we’re not going to worship in Spirit and Truth, which is the only true worship, (John 4:23-24), we aren’t any better than a pagan.

The society we live in is turning to these things publicly. Abortion is the hideous killing of infants for money. It is nothing less than the worship of Molech when people burned their first born in the red-hot arms of a statue of the hideous creature they worshiped, in exchange for “blessings” from the god in the form of prosperity, health, and happiness. How different is the modern day worship of this demon? They don’t want to be bothered with a child, who could cost them money and hinder their careers. They don’t have time for a child. They must do their beauty treatments, and gloat over themselves while torturing others with their mean responses and criticisms.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 8-9

8 Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.

9 And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 8-9

He’s speaking of our covenant with Satan before we were saved, listening to him merely by not listening to God. Putting God anywhere but first in our lives is the same as rejecting Him and accepting demonic lies.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 10

Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 10

We weren’t happy in that situation even though we sometimes thought we were–finally we come to realize that, and feel there must be a better way.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 11

And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 11

Why didn’t we come to Him sooner, He asks—why were we afraid?

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 12

I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 12

“I will declare thy righteousness and thy works, for they shall not profit thee.” This is a very important statement for the Old Testament, because it foretells the coming of the New Covenant of Christ…our works are worthless in saving ourselves. Its only through Christ that we are saved.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 13

When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 13

When we come to our breaking point, nothing we or our friends can do will save us, but he that puts his trust in Christ shall possess the land…Only in trusting in Jesus Christ can we gain salvation and strength and also help in this world.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 14

And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 14

He refers to taking away the stumbling block, which prevents us from seeing that we need salvation. Jesus is called a stumbling block to the unsaved, but he certainly isn’t to us, after we have the veil taken from our eyes to see Him. (Ezekiel 3:20, Romans 11:9 and 1 Corinthians 1:23)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 15

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 15

God said, “I dwell in the high and holy place with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit…”

He says again that He dwells with us. We dwell in the high and holy place with Him, if we humble ourselves to Him, and give our lives to Him. We are in heaven right now. We’ve already been changed into the new creation that will inhabit heaven and the New Earth. Praise the Lord!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 16

For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 16

God has seen mankind, His beloved creations and children turn to evil and ignore his loving guidance, but he says he won’t be angry forever, because He doesn’t want mankind to die, as we would without the life of Christ.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 17

For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 17

For Man’s greediness and pride, he was angry and he let them go in their ways for a time, as he sometimes does with each of us individually, so that at length we see the error of our ways. His patience is so unbelievable!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 18

I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 18

But He has mercy on us—He heals us of our evil ways through Christ, who also restores and comforts us.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 19

I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 19

He says he creates the Fruit of the lips. He tells us what to say, how to pray, and how to praise Him,and he gives us peace, and each day He heals us more, and brings us nearer to Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 57, VS 20-21

20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 57, VS 20-21

The wicked have no peace, they will always be striving with greed, frustration, etc., and in that striving and churning of the mind, evil thoughts and deeds are formed and carried out. They will never be peaceful without resting in the Lord, because peace only comes through Him.

Of course, after death, they will have no peace either.
