GOD’S WORD FOR JANUARY 1

GOD’S WORD FOR JANUARY 1 ~ ~ Psalm 46:10~ ~

“Stop striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted on the earth.”

I had occasion to know about a conversation between a man and his wife about a dollar he picked up on the street. She wanted him not to keep it, and he thought he could. It developed into a controversial situation, and he finally gave it to the church to keep things on an even keel.

This sparked a discussion among other Christians about the honesty of keeping money we find, when there is no way of finding out to whom it belongs. Many people weighed in with their wisdom and wit.

But, one thing was blatantly missing. No one, in all those Christian people, ever mentioned praying about it, and waiting for the Lord to answer, or that there may be different answers in different situations, and we need to find out individually, and that can only be by listening to Our Lord.

People are generally too busy using their minds and trying to prove themselves right and spiritual in the eyes of others, to stop and listen to the Still, Small Voice inside them.

This is not uncommon. Christians go to Bible studies, where questions are asked to spark thinking, discussions go on for hours, but, other than the short prayer in the beginning, few voice the need to ask the Lord to weigh in on the quest for wisdom from HIS Word.

Sometimes we try to make our knowledge and actions acceptable to Him without His input!!!!

The problem is that today we all want instant gratification…..instant everything, for that matter. We’d rather not wait and watch for the answer over a long period of time, but some answers take many years, some, a lifetime, and if we’re not communicating and listening and waiting, we can miss it.

Too many people let thinking drown out listening, and acting overcome waiting. Abraham and Sara did that, and we are still experiencing the horrors of their well-intended action, in bringing about the promise of the Lord in their own way,

On facebook, people love the cute little pictures with a witty (but true) short Biblical saying. I think it satisfies their conscience without too much effort. But if they see a long read into the Word that takes time, prayer, and probing into their relationship with the Lord, they will scroll right by it….no time for that.

God is not in our time, He is timeless, eternal. He WILL NOT hurry up for us. He is training us to wait for His guidance, no matter how long it takes.

Don’t miss out on knowing Him—-really knowing Him..

Eventually we get to the point where subconsciously, automatically, our spirits follow His, and we trust—beyond a doubt that He guides us, protects us, and that He will keep us in His Perfect Will.

But, first, we need to TRULY WANT His will, and spend much time listening to Him….through the years in this life.

Don’t risk hearing Him say “I never knew you” because you didn’t want to take the time to wait, and listen….for the rest of your earthly life.
