ISAIAH, CHAPTER 10, VS 23-34

ISAIAH, CHAPTER 10, VS 23-34

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 23-25

23 For the Lord God of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

24 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 23-25

  1. 23-25– God wants us to know that we need not be afraid of Satan (the Assyrian), for we have the power against him through Jesus Christ, and someday that power will be in its fullness in the Body of Christ and we will see God’s anger in Satan’s destruction.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 26-27

26 And the Lord of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 26-27

v. 26-27– God will save His people from Satan’s influence, and we will be rescued as the slaughter of Midian. Before the slaughter, Gideon asked the Lord how he could save Israel after the Lord said, “Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel ..”have not I sent thee?” (Judges 6:14-15) then, in v. 16, He said

“Surely I will be with thee and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man”. He went on to win victory over a far outnumbering army of Midianites with 300 men by making a lot of noise and confusion, and the enemy turned on themselves. We will overcome Satan that way–“as one man”–that one man being Our Lord Jesus Christ. He saved His people from Egypt by the parting of the Red Sea, also without the need for fighting on the part of His people. So He will use His strength to win victory over Satan for us. It is not by our strength that we stand up to him, but by God’s. “And his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing”.

By the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the victory of the Great Anointed One, Jesus Christ, his yoke will be lifted from God’s people. And in the end, it will not only be lifted, but the yoke will be destroyed forever!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 28

28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 28

  1. 28– Jesus has come to the earth, conquered Satan, and ascended into heaven, –but–He has “laid up His carriages” on earth–We are His carriages–We will carry His message and His power, and occupy the land until His return!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER10, VS 29

29 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 29

29– We are “gone over the passage” into His life–and taken up our lodging in heaven.(Ephes. 2:6) We are with Him right now, in the spirit–We are not of this world, anymore than Jesus is, and because of that, satan is afraid and must flee from us when we use the name of Jesus in full repentance and submission to Him.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 30-32

30 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.

31 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

32 As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 30-32
v. 30-31– “Lift up thy voice”–We cannot remain silent about such power, love and joy! When we use that power, Satan must flee!!

V. 32.– As yet, Satan is in this world, and has power over anyone who will let him have it. But notice, all he says he’s doing is shaking his hand against the daughter of Zion (God’s people).

That’s all he can do, in hopes that he can shake us so we take our eyes off Our Lord Jesus Christ, or light a flame of pride or other sin in us, to entice us to not be totally submissive to Our Lord. It is only a “shaking”, a bluff, because Jesus Christ is the Victor over satan!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 33-34

33 Behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

34 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 33-34

v. 33-34– The Lord will lop off satan’s power, and destroy all those lofty ones working for him.
