ISAIAH, CHAPTER 43

CHAPTER 43

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 1

But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 1

We are His people through Jesus Christ, we are recipients of all these things!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 2-7

2 When thou passest through waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 2-7

He is telling of the power and protection we have against satan, how he already has been defeated, and the Lord will demonstrate this to all who believe, and abide in Him through the Holy Spirit.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 8

Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 8

The blind who have eyes, and the deaf who have ears are those chosen people who are called by Him, but who as yet have not been told the Good News. When they do hear of it, they will be fertile soil for the seed to fall on, and it will produce.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 9

Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 9

The word for “former” means “first, or foremost in importance” and the word for “justified” means to be declared innocent. Thus, He is calling all people together to listen to the things of God, the only important things we will hear, and when people hear, ….really hear, and understand, they will be justified, or declared innocent through Christ, and know that it is truth, and that His Word is firm, sure, and stable.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 10-13

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.

12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 10-13

His people are His witnesses. Through the Holy Spirit, we, as a collective body, are to know and totally understand God and His tremendous Love.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 14

Thus saith the Lord, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 14

He has sent Jesus to Babylon, or hell, and put down all of satan’s power.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 15-117

15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.

16 Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 15-17

15-16 God has made a total victory at Calvary. People can’t seem to believe that. They believe in their salvation after this life, but not in their salvation during it. He has given us new hearts and souls to go with our newly quickened spirits that can hear His voice. 17 The word for “army” means “might, or power”. He brought forth the destruction and extinction of all the power, tools, and might of satan. His hold on earth is extinct!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 18

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 18

We are believing satan’s lies and remembering when he had great influence over us before our salvation. That is all over with! We are a new creation now, and we are looking to the Author and Finisher of our faith! (Hebrews 12:2)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 19-20

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 19-20

He will give the rivers of life—the Living Water, which will make the dragons and owls, representative of satan’s forces, honor God, not because they want to, but because they will be forced to because of what Jesus Christ has done.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 21

This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 21

He has made us to be a delight to Him, He dwells in the praises of His people. (Psalms 22:3). We are His masterpieces, His pride and joy!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 22

But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 22

Yet, many times we, His people, His delight, ignore Him. We go about our business, and don’t talk to Him as a friend. It is so heartbreaking to Him!!! God has a tremendous aching in His heart to do things for us, to show His Love for us, and so many times we don’t accept the things, because its hard for us to believe that God Almighty wants to be a servant to His people in the little things. But that is exactly what He wants! He wants to help us in every detail of our lives. In 1 Chronicles 16:9, it says, “The Lord’s eyes run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him.” But He wants our friendship and love all the time, not just in times of trouble. So many times we go to Him in trouble, but forget that He is with us constantly and wants us to share every thought with Him. (Jeremiah 2:27-29; Deuteronomy 8:13 & 14).

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 23-24

Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.

24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 23-24

But we haven’t turned completely to Him. We haven’t given Him all our weaknesses and problems as sacrifices and offerings. We’ve simply ignored Him! Our greatest weapon against satan in this world is our weakness. God’s entire plan of Salvation revolves around us relying on Him for everything. He used Adam’s weakness to our advantage and His advantage, and turned satan’s plan around in his face. It is the reverse of how God’s Grace was lost by Adam, when he started relying on his own understanding instead of God’s. God, Jesus, the Word, and Love, are all one in the same Person. All we must do to help fulfill the plan and subdue satan in our life and others is to accept God’s full Love in our life, which is accepting God, which is accepting Jesus, which is putting God’s Word into our lives, which is putting it into the earth, which is putting Jesus into the earth, Who will lock up satan once and for all at the end! So it is so important to read the Word and think about and talk to Jesus as constantly as possible, and thereby keep putting the Word into the Earth. That’s why God values our weaknesses, because when we realize them and turn to Him to correct them, he does it by giving us more Love and more Word, and therefore more of Him which increases His Word in the earth, and gives Him a chance to cause us to fully be the New Creation He created us to be. Therefore, the greatest prayer is that of total submission to Him, making His Great Plan come full circle!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 25-26

25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 25-26

God begs us to give Him our sins so He can forgive them—to “remind Him” that He promised that. This is why we need to study Scripture….to know the promises He has given us, so we can accept them into our hearts and lives. This doesn’t mean memorizing…that is head knowledge. We need to read the entire Bible, praying for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, so we can understand the entire plan, and the thoughts of God, and when we need the verses, the Holy Spirit will bring them back to us.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 43, VS 27-28

Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 43, VS 27-28

The word translated “teachers” originally meant to mock, scoff, but soon came to mean “one who interprets”, or tries to speak a foreign language. Our first father, Adam, sinned, and since then, men have tried to figure out how to get back with God, and have complicated it so much, that it has become a sin in itself. Religion is an abomination to God, and many of the Christian denominations are playing religion, because they have profaned and diluted the true Gospel and focused on rituals, doctrines, and differences between groups, instead of Jesus Christ alone, and abiding in Him through the Holy Spirit.
