ISAIAH CHAPTER 10, VS 11-22

ISAIAH CHAPTER 10, VS 11-22

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 11

11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 11

v. 11– God is no respecter of persons–Just because we’re Christians doesn’t mean we’re o.k. If we think first of the things of this world, we’re worshiping idols. Samaria was not God’s country, and He punished her for worshiping idols, as He must judge non-Christians for worldliness, so must He do to us, His people (Jerusalem) if we put this world first. (See Jeremiah 9:25-26)

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 12-13

12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

13 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 12-13
v. 12– The King of Assyria in this passage is satan. In the end, he will, of course, be punished for his stout-heartedness.

v. 13– For satan has said he would be as the high God, and he claimed he could do it by his own prudence, wisdom, and handsomeness.  He admits he’s trying to rob God’s people of our greatest Treasure—our one-ness with God.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 14

14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 14
v. 14– The Hebrew word translated riches can also be translated “power”, “valor”, or “strength”–our strength and our power both come from Jesus Christ. God made a nest of strong people through Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and has gathered all His chosen people. If we are truly His people, we will never object to being used by Him for His purpose. We will not “move a wing or open our mouth or peep”, but we will rejoice to be chosen for whatever purpose He has in mind, and be open to whatever He has chosen for each of us.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 15

15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 15

v. 15– For we are only tools, as an axe, or a saw, or a rod. We cannot tell Him how to use us, anymore than a hammer tells the carpenter how to build a house. We merely “wait on the shelf” until the Mighty Carpenter has need of our particular tool for His particular purpose, and be ready to be used in His time.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 16

16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 16

VS. 16– Those people and leaders seeking their own purpose will be made lean of His riches and power, but those who give themselves to His purpose will be made fat in His glory, and He will kindle the Fire of the Holy Spirit in them! They will glorify Him in their lives!!!

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 17

17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 17

17 The light of God is truly knowing Him with a personal knowledge that lights the fire in our Spirit, and that fire within us will devour the thorns and briars of our former selves, which we crucify with Jesus and rise anew.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 18-19

18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standard-bearer fainteth.

19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 18-19
VS. 18-19– The word translated “consume” also means “finish” or “accomplish”, thus He will finish, or accomplish the filling of every part of our lives, of our body and soul with His glory! If His glory fills every part of our Spirit, Soul, and Body, we are totally His!!! We must realize the totality of His glory that fills every part of us!! But He says in v. 19 that few really realize that totality, and how sad that is for God’s glory and our joy.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 10, VS 20-22

20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
APPLICATION: CHAPTER 10, VS 20-22
v. 20-22 Even though the number for awhile shall be small, all through the ages there was always a remnant that stayed with God, and so now there still is a remnant who will stay by Him in truth not by tradition, but the Truth of the Spirit, and the Word of God indwelling them, and they will overflow with His righteousness! These people will not “stay upon him (Satan) that smote them” and won’t give in to his darkness.
