ISAIAH CHAPTER 30 VS 12-17

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 30, VS 12-14

12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 20, VS 12-14

12-14– As we go about our lives on our own understanding, or believing the worldly false preachers instead of God, life becomes more and more difficult, until we are broken –we reach the end of our rope–“he shall not spare–shall not be found— a sherd—” A sherd is a dish of pottery. We must be completely broken of ourselves and have not a big enough piece of ourselves to rely on–we must ralize we’re made of tiny pieces, each worthless of ourself, and He puts us together into a vessel. We are dearly loved by Him and pricelessly valuable in His eyes, but we must see our value that way and not of ourselves. (See Jeremiah 2:13).

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 30, VS 15

“ For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. “

APPLICATION; CHAPTER 30, VS 15

. 15– “In returning and rest shall ye be saved “–How beautiful!! This sums up the whole idea of God’s plan and the message of His Word! We must get back to simply trusting Him! Jeremiah 6:16 speaks of this beautifully also, and is probably what Jesus was quoting when He said “I am the Way •.”, and “Come to Me …and find rest for your souls”. (See John 14:6,

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 30, VS 16

16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. “

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 30, VS 16

. 16– But so many people can’t see that. They still rely on their things–they “flee on horses”. Whenever we flee from a total oneness with God, we leave an opening for Satan in our weakness, and he will come on a swifter horse than our personal horse, without the strength of the Lord.

SCRIPTURE: CHAPTER 30, VS 17

“17 One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.”

APPLICATION: CHAPTER 30, VS 17

v. 17– As we rely on our own strength, individually, and as a church, Satan will overpower more and more and we, without the strength of the Lord, will flee, and take what he gives us, until we are brought down low, and realize how alone we are, and how vulnerable to him. (In Jesus we can “make 1,000 flee ,” but alone, we flee. [Deut.32:30].)
